sTRUCTURAL PORTRAITS
I am not an architect. Nor a student of architecture. But I love buildings. Especially old buildings. To me they are like people, rich in personality and full of weather-worn details. So I try to photograph them as if they were sitting for a portrait.
Most of these structures are from my own neighborhood in Jersey City Heights, New Jersey. Some are from nearby towns. And some are from travels. Some are more attractive than others. Some are in desperate need of repair. Some are quite functional. Some have been repurposed. Some have been torn down. Some are places which have special meaning to me. Others just kind of caught my eye. But they all have one thing in common:
They were built by people and for people.
As such, I try to photograph them as if they are people.
