August can be very uncomfortable. Filled with heat, humidity and the prospect of autumn, the month often feels filled with a sense of urgency bordering on angst. So what better place to alleviate the sweltering weather and hope to dismiss the impending end of summer than a day at the beach? 
The following images were taken at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, as well as at the Jersey Shore, specifically the bordering towns of Avon-by-the-Sea and Belmar. Mid-week, the beaches were quite barren. And the clouds were most accommodating.
