There are few places in the New York metropolitan area which are as inspiring as is the vista from atop the Eagle Rock Reservation in West Orange, New Jersey. But the view is perhaps most identified among locals with that terrible day in September of 2001 when hundreds of people flocked to the site to watch the unfolding tragedy twelve miles to the east. Along its edge are the names of 9/11's victims from Essex County, flanked by bronze memorials to those who heroically rushed in to save lives.
