Say what you will but to my mind Central Park is the crown jewel of New York City. For all that man has made in this storied metropolis, what embodies the soul of Gotham is what man did not create. What man (mostly) left alone. It may have been sculpted by Olmsted and Faux, but the raw material belongs to the original terra firma of the island of Manhattan.
